Participants will learn how to use and implement Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT). This session will be an overview of training on how to use the DTT instructional method for students with Autism and Significant Cognitive Disabilities. It will include rationale for using DTT with this student population. It will provide steps to prepare for a DTT session along with the steps that are needed throughout the DTT student session. The training will also include the prompting hierarchy used within DTT and how to take data with fidelity. This session will provide modeling of DTT and data collection. DTT is an evidenced and research-based intervention for children on the Autism Spectrum. While it is an important component to ABA intervention, teachers/providers do not need to have a BCBA to implement DTT with fidelity. We have presented to districts throughout the state and the information has been received positively.
